Diving for the first time

PADI Discover Scuba Diving

EXPERIENCE A NEW WORLD

PADI Discover Scuba Diving

Diving for the first time is unforgettable! You’ll never forget the first breath you take underwater. On our PADI Discover Scuba Diving program, let the millions of fish and little critters swimming by show you the path to a whole new underwater world.

Just breathe and relax

We know that diving might sound scary for some, but our experienced instructors will make sure that you will feel safe and comfortable at all times. To ensure the best possible service for you, we never take more than two customers per instructor for our PADI Discover Scuba Diving program. Diving is fun and it should be fun every time.

What we will do

After our meeting, we will fill out some boring but necessary paperwork, which should take no more than a couple of minutes. After that, our instructors will set up your diving gear and explain all the functions on it, breathing techniques, how to clear the water from your mask and all sorts of small things, which will make you feel comfortable and safe underwater. At the end the first dive, we will go back to the shore, where you can take a little rest between the dives, enjoy our tea and snacks and shoot those very important Instagram pictures, (tagging Sunkissed Divers Okinawa of course!) then head back to the ocean for more fun.

Fears

Most of us have seen the movie Jaws and let’s face it, it didn’t leave us with good feelings. But don’t worry, marine life such as sharks, sea snakes or other Hollywood creatures are actually very peaceful and they are probably more scared of you.

Dive locations

As you are already looking at options for your first dive, you might wonder where it will take place?

The Blue Cave or Maeda Point in Okinawa is a great place to have your first diving experience. The ocean is generally calm here without any currents and the visibility is excellent. But that’s not the only dive site you can visit. As Okinawa is only one of many islands in the Ryukyus, there are plenty more places to choose from. If you would prefer a day out in the ocean, then we can visit the Kerama Islands or if looking for a more relaxed “just walk in from the shore” day, then we can dive at Sunabe, near American Village.

There are many options to choose from, so please contact us for more details.

Transportation

We have carefully selected the dive sites for safety, fun and convenience, to save you some precious time on your holiday. All the diving spots are located on the main route no58, which takes you along the West coast from Naha to Cape Hedo.

If you are planning to drive in Okinawa, which we would highly recommend, then keep in mind, that renting a car here requires an International Driving Permit.

For those, who wish to use the public transport, for example from Naha to our meeting point for the Blue Cave dive, you can take bus 120 to the bus stop called Moon Beach. For more information, please visit the website of the local bus services   Okinawa bus services .

Schedules

Because we know the time is important for you, we tailor our schedule to your needs. Early birds can go diving as early as 07:30, finishing by 12:00 or if you would rather enjoy a long sleep, then we can meet as late 13:30 and finishing by 17:00 with the two dives. We only offer the PADI Discover Scuba Diving with at least two dives, as we believe that one dive is just not enough time to experience the beauty of the ocean.

What to bring

Do you have sea sickness? Then an over-the-counter medication from the local drugstore called Drugstore Mori is highly recommended – not just for boat, but shore dives as well. No one wants to feed the fish on their first time in the ocean.

Other than that, your average beach going toolkit will be perfect. Water, towel, suncream and swimwear.
